I used to be extremely self conscience of my scars…

But I think now, more than anything, scars are an excellent reminder of what not to go back to. Scars should almost be something you’re proud of— it shows you made it through something. With each and every scar, some type of trauma happened to cause it; they all hold a story. A scar may be part of your past you want to put in a box on the top shelf of your closet and never think about, but you can’t do that. You need to remember what caused you so much hurt, you need to remember so you don’t ever revisit it.
It’s been years, but thoughts of it still haunt me like an inner demon— and I think my scars help me realize it isn’t the answer.
